Free Poker Tips __________________________________ Image Poker for many new aspiring pros is many times about image. Image in the way they see themselves and image in the way they wish to be seen by their opponents at the table. Many novice poker pros spend hours comtemplating the proper image, selecting the the most intimidating sunglasses or hooded clothing to wear while playing their usual low limit or middle limit games. While we are not denying that your image at the poker table will definitely have an effect on the other players, usually your costume will have just the opposite effect from what you intended. For low and middle limit games, the best image is to present yourself as a casual player just out to have some fun. The other players will relax against you and play their usual losing game. If, on the other hand, you project a serious image they might just try to improve their playing, which costs you some lost profits. There are few things more comical than to see a bunch of hooded players with sunglasses at a low limit poker table. They may as well be wearing signs that proclaim them as novice players hoping to someday be good poker players. For the real pro, its all about the money, not satisfying the ego or putting on a show for your opponents. Positive Expectations Poker is all about positive expectations. By this we don't so much means hoping to win or even expecting to win; but having expectations of winning by only playing such cards at such times that in the long run this play will yield a profit (Positive Expectation). Unless you have an over riding reason to make a play that you don't think will win for you in the long run, just don't do it. One over riding reason might be a bluff that sets up your opponent for a later profit. Without such a reason, making plays that have long run negative expectation will do just that for you... Lose Your Money for you.
Starting as a Pro Many people outside the poker community think that most poker pros somehow start playing poker and next thing they are automatically elevated to playing with Gus Hansen and Doyle Brunson at the final table on TV at the WPT or WSOP. The reality of the life of a poker pro is much different as most Poker Pros start out very humbly by grinding out a living and building a bankroll at very low limit poker, usually 2-4, 3-6, or 4-8 then elevating to the 10/20 and 20/40 level which allows them to build a bankroll much faster as more than their basic living expenses are quickly covered leaving them extra cash. Others are fortunate enough to be able to begin their play at the 10-20 and above and then elevate. It should be noted that not all poker pros elevate to the highest levels of poker, as many find a level of play that they excel at and brings them sufficient income for them to live well. So, as you begin your poker profession, it is good to realize that there is no one way to approach this profession; whatever works for you, works for you.
